This house was designed around the dinning table, and so a table with some real presence was required. Made up of twenty-eight 12' long 2x4's glued together on their sides to form a large slab, this table has weight as well as presence. The white painted legs tie the table into the surrounding architecture and the lightened pine top connects with other lightened pine in the house such as the stairs leading to the upper level and down to the studio, as well as the upper level floor. This connection with other elements in the house, gives the table a feeling of belonging and makes it into a part of the overall conversation of the architecture. The ceiling features, at the skylights above, still under construction, will also connect with the table, both in size and visually, through light.
